What do you like about Linux?

Linux is pretty awesome from what i have tried out myself. The only thing that is holding me back from it is windows applications. Most of the programs i use from day to day aren't available on linux, and wine just doesn't cut it sometimes. Maybe when wine improves alot more i will be able to use linux more, possibly even completely migrate to it. Currently i have a tripple boot going on consisting of Ubuntu, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.

I love the Linux live CD system. It really saved my files once when Windows got corrupted.

I like that most distros are open. I can make changes to what I want and that all of the apps and software is the same. You know just sticking it to the man.

I have used only the Ubuntu distro and I loved it. It was fast, secure, fairly easy to use, and added a lot of customization. However, I don't use it because not many people are supporting software for Linux.

Waizujin, since i began using ubuntu i've loved the ubuntu software center feature, i can find free software for anything i want! its great!

I have the exact opposite complaint about Windows with free software. I guess the developers figure people who are serious about free software would use GNU/Linux.

i like linux because it is fast secure safe
and more importantly every file in the system is a text file
all the servers are deployed in linux
its really very powerfull and more or less its open source
